Our services include:

Rapid HIV and STI Testing

Tests are conducted by our Peer Test Facilitators. These people are not doctors or nurses and they can only provide a Rapid HIV Test and a standard sexually transmitted infection (STI) screen.

A standard STI Screen includes testing for:

  • HIV and syphilis serology (blood test)
  • Chlamydia and gonorrhea (self collected oral swab, anal swab and urine test)

For people with a valid Medicare card the appointment and testing is free. If you know you have an STI or are experiencing symptoms, we ask that you select "STI treatment" when booking.

PrEP Dr (PrEP Clinic and STI Treatment)

Our PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) Clinic is operated by doctors and nurses practitioners who can prescribe PrEP and treatment for STIs. For people with a valid Medicare card, appointments and associated testing is bulk billed. Some treatments may incur a cost and the doctor or nurse practitioner will explain these to you.

PRONTO! is co-located with Equinox at Thorne Harbour's site at 200 Hoddle Street in Abbotsford. Please do not book with an Equinox doctor.

If you have questions, call PRONTO! on (03) 9416 2889. Follow us on Facebook for updates.

Rapid HIV Test Information and Eligibility

PRONTO! is a peer service funded and designed to support communities at high risk of HIV including men who have sex with men and trans & gender diverse people. You may be denied a free Rapid HIV test if you are not a member of these communities.

The Rapid HIV test is a finger prick blood test that only needs a small amount of blood, with results in 20 minutes.

A Rapid HIV Test may not detect HIV that is recently acquired. The window period for the test is three months (12 weeks). This means that the test may not detect HIV that has been acquired in the last three months.

The Rapid HIV Test is not accurate for people who have taken PEP or PrEP within the past 3 months.
